Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a percentage of a number?
Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. 18% of 1200 is 1200 x 18 / 100 = 216. The first mode does exactly this.
How do I work out percent increase or decrease?
Take the difference between new and old, divide by the old value, multiply by 100. Going from 250 to 300 is (300 - 250) / 250 x 100 = 20% increase. The third mode handles it, including decreases.
What percent did I score if I got 45 out of 80?
Use the second mode: 45 is 56.25% of 80. It divides the first number by the second and multiplies by 100.
